For those who haven’t heard, it’s official: This Thursday, November 28, has been declared “Thanksgivukkah,” by Mayor Tom Menino.

Later this week, Thanksgiving Day will coincide with the first day of Hanukkah, marking a once-in-a-lifetime occasion that won’t happen again for more than 79,000 years. In recognition of this event, Menino recently declared Nov. 28, 2013, “Thanksgivukkah in the City of Boston”

The mayor’s official proclamation states: “The City of Boston recognizes the diversity of all its citizens and strives to make our city and world a batter place through the values embodied by both Hanukkah and Thanksgiving.”

With Thanksgivukkah in mind, in order to kickstart BostInno’s #MeninoMonday coverage, we’ve compiled a list of other days on the calendar that have gotten Menino’s stamp of approval.

Thanksgivukkah is kind of a given. But, as you’ll soon see, Menino is hard to predict, when it comes to figuring out a pattern for which events, people or brands he has given such an honor to, for one day. From pasta to muscians, to parking and LGBT rights, Menino has made Boston’s calendar one of the country’s most inclusive.
