After almost a week of nonstop turkey and Thanksgiving leftovers, chances are you need a slight break from comfort food. I, for one, had my fill of delicious Turkey Day fare, stuffing my face with mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and way too many buttered veggies. Sigh. But now that the day of eating and feasting has ended, it’s time to resort back to what we know best: Pizza.

And that is why, on a cold weekday night, I decided to head to one of the North End’s newer restaurants, Quattro. The elegant restaurant, situated on the busy corner of Hanover and Parmenter Streets, is truly located right in the center of the hustle and bustle of the North End restaurant scene. But I was pleasantly surprised to find the interior to be very modern and cozy.

Upon stepping inside, I felt immediately at home thanks to the friendly staff and the warm atmosphere. And if you’re a fan of brick oven pizza, then this is certainly the North End restaurant for you. Right behind the bar lies Quattro’s brick oven, which not only puts out some of the best pizza in Boston but also happens to help warm restaurant guests from the cold temps outside.

However, approach the menu with caution because if you’re hungry (like I was), then just reading the list of pizzas, artisan pastas and rotisserie options could lead to drooling – just sayin’. Upon contemplating the menu, I finally decided on the fig, arugula & goat cheese pizza – when in Rome.

The white cheese pizza was exactly what I wanted on a cold weekday night. The fiery pizza topped with sweet figs, creamy goat cheese and fresh arugula created the perfect savory and delectable dish. I have to say though, my favorite part of the pizza was actually the crust. It was thin crust (just how I like it) but the ends were light and fluffy – or ‘heavenly’ would be another way to describe it.

All in all, I truly loved both the ambience and the food, and would highly recommend both the restaurant and its bar as the perfect wintertime restaurant for your next North End visit.
