There are many things about the holiday season, including the glitzy lights, the sparkling ornaments and the glistening evergreens, that bring out the true beauty of the holiday season. But ugly holiday sweaters are not one of them. They are, however, totally necessary if you’re going to Blue Inc’s Ugly Holiday Sweater Soiree next Monday, December 9.
Blue Inc. will be serving holiday fare and drinks at their third annual Ugly Sweater Party including several Christmas movie-inspired cocktails. But if you want to go, you better be prepared to rock a heinous holiday sweater on your back all night long. The attendee with the “Ugliest Sweater” will even win a $50 gift certificate to Blue Inc’s sister restaurant, Abby Lane.
And if there isn’t an ugly holiday sweater from the 80’s stored away somewhere in your parents closet, have no fear. You can still find a heinous sweater in-and-around Boston at one of these spots below.
Buffalo Exchange

For a cheaper ugly holiday sweater, head to Buffalo Exchange in either Allston or Davis Square. The second hand store offers plenty of items hovering around the $15 price mark, and with lots of clothing options you’re sure to find plenty of ugly holiday regalia.
Garment District

The Garment Districts offers plenty of hilarious ugly holiday sweaters. According to the website, you’ll find poinsettia-covered pullovers, sparkling sequin sweatshirts, twin-sets with twinkling trees, kitten-covered cardigans and more. If that’s not ugly, I don’t know what is.

Always a good bet if you’re looking for cheap, holiday flair. And with numerous locations, there’s no way you won’t find a tacky, vintage sweater vest in the mix. The options are limitless.

Believe it or not, even Target has hilarious ugly sweater options this season. Take a look at these mid-range priced options and head to nearest Target. Trust me – these sweaters are worth the trip.
Thrift Store of Boston

With 100% of proceeds benefitting The Home for Little Wanderers, at least your ugly holiday sweater will be doing good somewhere else. The thrift store offers a slew of bargains and vintage clothing, so you’re sure to find a few tacky gems in this store.
Urban Outfitters

You can find vintage ugly Christmas cardigans, vests and a host of other terrible (read: perfect) sweater options at your nearby Urban Outfitters. A tad more expensive than what you’ll find at goodwill but at least you know it’ll stay in tack for next year.

This cash-only vintage and consignment store is the real deal when it comes to thrift stores. With plenty of options and super cheap prices, you’re sure to find quite a few 80’s style Christmas sweaters.
