Don’t be shocked if tomorrow you happen to witness a stampede of scantily clad “santas” dressed in speedos storming through Back Bay. That’s because tomorrow, December 14 is the 14th Annual Santa Speedo Run – just in time for our weekend snow shower – oh boy.

The hilarious holiday event will be taking our streets by storm starting at 1 p.m. but check-in and drinking will commence early at 10 a.m. The run requires every participant to dress in skimpy santa-like attire which includes a speedo or bathing suit in a holiday color, sneakers and additional holiday flair.

But of course even the Santa Speedo Run draws the line when it comes to “thongs” (apparently, they’re not allowed – sorry).

Over the past 13 years, the Santa Speedo Run has raised over $1.4 for local children’s charities around town. And starting in 2012, the Santa Speedo Run began aligning themselves with the Play Ball Foundation, which provides assistance to Boston middle school students.

The Santa Speedo Run is quite popular every year, attracting nearly 700 half-naked runners all dressed (or undressed?) in holiday flair. The run starts and ends at Lir Tavern and Whiskey’s at the corner of Gloucester St. and Boylston St. in Back Bay. The short one mile jog proceeds down Boylston St. to Berkeley St. and then back up Newbury St. to Gloucester St. – right back at the beginning.

And afterwards, runners can warm up at the post-run party where plenty of libations and good times will be had. Make sure to check out these photos from past Santa Speedo runs below and don’t miss this hilarious half-naked holiday experience.
