With the new year comes a new beginning for the 2014 Massachusetts gubernatorial candidates hoping to succeed incumbent Governor Deval Patrick. One of those, Republican hopeful Mark Fisher, has penned an open letter to the residents of the Bay State offering a blueprint of what changes he hopes to make should he be elected to Beacon Hill.

The letter (see: below) details the platform upon which Fisher hopes will win the votes of residents statewide. Fisher intends to play up his dual-sided persona of an outsider, one who has never immersed himself in the rigors of politics, as well as a regular guy who’s experienced unemployment and the plight of the common man.

Adopting that characterization, Fisher writes that he hopes to retain home-grown Massachusetts talent in commerce and industry. “As a Political outsider having never run for office or worked in Government, I’ve seen this first-hand when four of my previous employers moved out of state and one closed permanently,” notes Fisher.  Now, as an employer, I’ve seen the loss of one customer, which moved out of State.”

He also makes mention of his plan to curtail the financial burden welfare imposes on the Commonwealth, to reduce taxes that fuel welfare-like service programs, to remove all tolls along the Massachusetts Turnpike, and his general dissatisfaction with the Democratic party which has held a stranglehold on Massachusetts politics seemingly forever.
