I’ll be honest, when I first moved from South Carolina to the Northeast, I had no clue what-so-ever what “layering” clothes really meant. Under Armour and puffy jackets just did not exist in my sunny, 70 degree past. But when I decided to move to Boston, my former boss (and New York native) gave me one piece of solid advice – and that was to “start layering.”

After making my move to Boston, and surviving both Winter Storm Nemo and (now) Hercules, I think I can (completely) agree with his valuable advice. Knowing how to properly layer your clothes is key to surviving the frigid temps and will undoubtedly make your winter experience much more pleasant.

That being said, now that Winter Storm Hercules has finally ended and it’s safe to walk outside – it’s more important than ever to properly protect yourself from the cold. Here’s a small refresher and a few layering tips to help you survive out there tonight!
