Yesterday, the brewers at Samuel Adams announced the dawning of a new spring beer – appropriately named, “Cold Snap.” The new beer is Sam Adams’ latest addition to their popular seasonal craft beer collection – which includes the crowd-pleasing Octoberfest, Winter Lager and (in Boston terms) a “Sam Summer.”

And the new, crisp golden wheat Cold Snap brew is certainly a 180 from the hearty, heavier Winter Lager we’ve been imbibing the last couple of months. The new beer is a Belgian-style white ale with a twist – incorporating a wide range of ingredients and “lively blend of ten different fruits, flowers and spices,” according to a press release. And it’s described by its brewers as being a “medium-bodied yet refreshing ale with a complex floral, spicy aroma and character” with an ABV of 5.3 percent.

But if you’re going to imbibe on this new early-spring beverage, we recommend you pair it correctly with the right grub. Fortunately, Sam Adams recommends pairing the new bottle of Cold Snap with quite a few mouthwatering food options. These include:

Cheesesteak Sandwich

Yes, please! Apparently the beef, sweet onions and creamy cheese can easily be cut through and matched with the Cold Snap.

Eggs

Everyone’s favorite breakfast-for-dinner food, the savory eggs will pair nicely with the refreshing Cold Snap.

Quesadillas and Enchiladas

Not going to lie – I could really go for some of that right now! Drink a Cold Snap to help bring out the savory meat flavors and to cut through the spiciness of these cheesy dishes.

Sushi

If you’re craving seafood, try pairing your Cold Snap with sushi. The beer acts as a great compliment to the raw fish flavors.
