Snapping out of your post-long-weekend, hump-day slump by sampling 12 beers doesn’t sound like a bad deal – but these aren’t just any beers.

On Wednesday, January 22 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., Cellarbration: 12 New, Rare, & Specialty Beers from New England Breweries, organized by Pintley and hosted at  J.J. Foley’s Cafe in the South End, will offer the opportunity to try some local brews that are off the drunken path.

“Putting on events helps people discover things they never thought they’d like,” said Pintley co-founder Rich Di Tieri.  Since starting to organize weekly events in Boston last March, Pintley has put on more than 50 events in the area featuring craft beers.

Some of the beers on the menu at Wednesday’s event include the Fisherman’s Tea Party Barleywine, made with three different styles of tea that were among those dumped into the Boston Harbor during the Boston Tea Party; and the new Samuel Adams Rebel IPA.

The event is free entry and pay-as-you-go with food and drink, according to its Eventbrite page. Di Tieri said beers at these events are well-priced for their rarity and quality at about $6-$9 per beer. Attendees can expect to enjoy appetizers, specialty entrees and beer pairings, as well as the company of local brew crews. As with all of Pintley’s events, representatives from the breweries will be present.

“We think a good beer is a beer you’d like to drink. Everyone’s tastes are different, and peoples’ tastes change over time,” said Di Tieri.

Di Tieri said he was most excited to try the brand new Baxter 3rd Anniversary brew, On The Count of Three Imperial Hefeweizen (because Imperial Hefeweizens are among the most uncommon style of brew), as well as Turkey Shore Distilleries’ RiverWalk Barrel Aged Winter Porter, brewed in rum barrels with Madagascar vanilla beans and cinnamon sticks. The full menu of featured beers can be found on the Cellarbration’s” event page.

The event was set up in appreciation for the participating breweries, who will be supporting the neighborhood engagement program South End settlements by throwing the charity beer festival Brewers Helping Neighbors on February 6th.
