When your mother told you that nothing good ever happened after midnight, she obviously never paid a visit to The Hong Kong. Or inhaled a Scorpion Bowl. Or sang karaoke until 2 a.m. But that’s okay – we know she was just protecting you from all those late night shenanigans.

However, that should not (I repeat: not) keep you away from singing your heart out in front of a bunch of strangers (who won’t be strangers for long). The Hong Kong, in both Faneuil Hall and Cambridge, is without a doubt a landmark Boston bar, complete with enough hilarious (and in no way embarrassing) late-night stories to fill a book – including this engagement proposal below.

But you may not know that the Hong Kong (or, “Kong” as it’s sometimes referred) also serves up quite a few late night specials. The bar’s 2 for 1 Midnight food special is available Sunday through Wednesday and includes apps such as pizza, coconut shrimp, egg rolls, and popcorn chicken, among others.

On the weekends, you can order the Combo Special with a Scorpion Bowl for two people and a plate of apps for $25 until 7 p.m. And whether or not you sing some classic 80’s-style karaoke or get down on one knee and propose (it happens), you’re going to need one of their famous Scorpion Bowls – or two. Complete with a hodge podge of alcohol and topped with various fruit and tiki-style umbrellas, these drinks are dangerous – and delicious.

The indoor karaoke and tipsy-fied atmosphere make for a great way to stay warm – and fun – this weekend in Boston. So, get to it!
