This past weekend, it was vine time for the folks at Mohegan Sun as the 11th Annual Sun WineFest descended upon the casino destination once again. And with it came hoards of young professionals (myself included), ready to explore various wines, beers and spirits hailing from all corners of the globe.
The “Grand Tasting” at the Sun WineFest was exactly that – Grand. With over 1000 brands present at numerous tasting stations throughout the ballroom, the WineFest left no glass empty. And my fellow winos and I were able to experience both local and international vinos of all kinds.
Representatives from as far away as Venice, Italy served up glasses of peach-flavored Canella Bellini, while New Hampshire vineyard reps presented guests with some local wine tastings. The world truly collided under one roof, sharing in our common interest of food and wine.
Celebrity chefs were also present during the weekend-long extravaganza – including: Robert Irvine, Todd English, Jasper White and Donatella Arpaia. The food personalities and well-renowned chefs gave cooking demonstrations throughout the weekend, signed cookbooks, mingled with the crowds, and even gave dinner party tips to fans. When one Sun WineFest guest asked Restaurateur and celebrity chef, Todd English, how to host a dinner party given her lack of cooking skills, Chef English only suggested that she make sure to have plenty of wine. Enough said.
