Steak is usually reserved for special occasions, and for good reason, as both the price tag and cholesterol count aren’t figures to be taken lightly. One day fitting enough to splurge for the red meat is, of course, Valentine’s Day, and would ya look at that? It’s right around the corner.
If you haven’t yet booked a dinner reservation for you and your Valentine (that is, assuming you got one) this year, I suggest you a.) get on it and b.) take into consideration the classiest of meat slabs and the fine restaurants in town that specialize in them: the steak house.
Recently, Food & Wine made a list of the Best New Steak Houses in the country, and one local restaurant made the cut: Boston Chops, the South End steak bistro from local celeb chef Christopher Coombs. For Valentine’s Day, the chef has put together a three-course prix fixe menu, so if you’d like to treat your date to Boston’s best new steak house, see the courses below:
Braised Pork Shank Agnolotti
broccoli rabe and Pecorino
Paired with: RouteStock Cellars, Route 99 W, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley Oregon
Crab Cakes

Paired with: Roland Levantureaux, Petit Chablis, Chardonnay, Burgundy, France
8 oz. Filet Mignon
