Got Valentine’s Day plans? For those figuring out a Valentine’s Day dinner, the task may seem daunting at first. Finding a place with reservations at the right price with the right setting – phew. It’s exhausting.

But not if you know where to go. Which is why I decided to try out one of the Boston restaurants offering up a Valentine’s Day tasting menu, themselves. Anthem Restaurant & Bar in Boston’s Faneuil Hall is not only serving up a special Valentine’s themed menu, but the restaurant’s typical menu serves up a few romantic options, itself.

If you’re looking for a less expensive – but still delicious – romantic dinner option, then I recommend this little gem. With a glass encased bar, dimly-lit lighting and dining balcony overlooking the restaurant, Anthem’s ambiance is certainly worth the T ride to Government Center.

As for their food, the Four Cheese Fondue with lobster takes the win. Obviously, Anthem knows how to cook up a scrumptious lobster mac and cheese – but this lobster fondue for two, takes it to another level. The pot full of crackling, bubbling hot cheese accompanied with chunks of delicious buttered-up lobster and toasted ciabatta pieces, could not have been more delicious.

A little fondue and a little bubbly (from the champagne, that is) go a long way in making this dish the perfect winter time and Valentine’s day treat.

I recommend ordering a glass (or two) of Anthem’s Cava Brut ($10) to accompany the cheesy lobster fondue. Usually, I’m not much a champagne person – but this Spanish sparkling wine goes down perfectly with the dish.

Happy dining and wining this Valentine’s Day!
