How do you take your whiskey? Whether you prefer it on the rocks, paired with a Coke or “neat” – you’re in the right place. Because, according to Thrillist, Boston is home to one of the “Best Whiskey Bars in America.”

Somerville’s Saloon, a local speakeasy-inspired bar, landed on the list for its authentic atmosphere and serious cocktails. Thrillist stated that while “Plenty of bars try to emulate the pre-Prohibition speakeasy vibe… Saloon nails it: there’s a semi-hidden stairwell and 17th century monastery doors you have to pass through to get to the bar, plus warm wood and leather-filled décor when you arrive.”

The local bar serves up an impressive drink list with over 150 whiskies. Some of the pre-Prohibition cocktails include: “The Pass” with Breckenridge Bourbon, Petal and Thorn, Cynar, bitters; “Red Hook” with rye whiskey, Punt e’Mes, maraschino liqueur; and  “Matty’s Fix” with bourbon, Montenegro, honey, lime, egg white – among many other unique libations.

But the serious drinks and speakeasy vibe don’t stop with Saloon. Boston is home to many other whiskey-serving bars, 10 of which we’ve rounded up below.

Oh, and none of them involve Whiskey Priest.
