Gone are the days when gowns were the only red-carpet option for women. Sure, we still have Cate Blanchett’s impeccable head-to-toe nude and Lupita’s plunging baby blue. But last night’s awards also saw a sea of tuxes.

The designer of choice? Saint Laurent. Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres wore three different Saint Laurent tuxes. Ellen Page looked edgy and cool dressed in the brand, too. As did Kourtney Kardashian. (Saint Laurent outfitted white-hot Jared Leto as well.)

Of course, Yves Saint Laurent has been a red-carpet staple for years, dressing the likes of Diane Kruger in glamorous gowns. But under the helm of Hedi Slimane, the brand is far more casual.

What would that mean for the women of this year’s red carpet, the public wondered? Thanks to Fashionista, the answer is now clear: suits. “Saint Laurent has become the definitive source for cool-yet-elegant, well-tailored suiting.”

Sounds like awards shows just got a whole lot more comfortable.
