Thanks to New York, London, Milan, and Paris Fashion Weeks happening over the last month, my Pinterest activity has hit an all-time high. And just as my runway withdrawal began to set in and my social media feeds started filling up with pictures of beaches and baking projects again, Brooklyn officials came and saved the day by announcing that the borough will hold its own version of Fashion Week starting March 13.

Call it sibling rivalry (you try living in Manhattan’s shadow) or acting out. I call it pure brilliance, because rather than featuring the same high-profile designers who descend on the island of Manhattan twice a year, Brooklyn’s version will shine a spotlight on eco-friendly, African-, and European-inspired collections, as well as Brooklyn-based designers, over the course of its four-day duration. For this? I’ll be sure to have my Pinboards ready.
