“Find what you love and let it kill you.” – Charles Bukowski

American author and prolific poet, Charles Bukowski, provided us with quite a few memorable quotes and stories. And in honor of the author’s legacy and the 20th Anniversary of his death, Bukowski Tavern is launching a new craft beer series called the R.I.P. Series.

The craft beer will be released throughout the year in collaboration with several craft breweries. A release tells us that “a portion of every pint sale will be donated to a Boston literacy organization” as well.

Bukowski died on March 9, 1994. 20 years later, Boston residents will honor him (with beer obviously) at the launch party this Sunday, March 9 at the Bukowski Tavern in Cambridge.

An official source tells us that the first beer in the R.I.P. series is by Portico Brewing Company and Bukowski Tavern, brewed at Watch City. It will be a Hibiscus Red Ale called ‘Pulp,’ named after Bukowski’s last novel before he died.

Other brewer collaborations will include Harpoon, Rising Tide, Clown Shoes, Jack’s Abby, Cisco and many more. The R.I.P. Series beer will be available exclusively at Bukowski Tavern (Boston and Cambridge locations), The Lower Depths, The Tip Tap Room, Poe’s Kitchen at the Rattlesnake, Estelle’s, and Parish Cafe (both locations).
