After much anticipation, the new restaurant from the BiNa Hospitality, the group that owns popular spots like jm Curley, Bogie’s Place and LaLa Rokh, is opening tonight in the South End.

Merrill & Co, a Southern-inspired seafood restaurant and raw bar, will welcome in hungry guests for dinner starting at 5:30 p.m.

The new restaurant is located at 1 Appleton Street, in the old spot where pizza joint 28 Degrees once was in the South End. It will be run by former KO Prime and NYC’s Willow Road Executive Chef Jason Cheek, with jm Curley’s Kevin Mabry serving as beverage director. In addition to the raw bar offerings, guests can expect shareable dishes and small plates focused around seafood with a Southern flair; according to Eater, there will be items like hush puppies and fried chicken on the menu.

Behind the bar, thirsty patrons can stop by for a wide selection of beers, wines and the restaurant’s specialty, sherry. And while the wood-fired oven from 28 Degrees is still heating up the kitchen, toasted breads and baked whole fish instead of pizza will appear on the menu.

This Boston newcomer is sure to become an all-star soon, so get there quick. The space has multiple types of seating, including counter, bar, and high and low top tables, but it will likely fill up fast.

Merrill & Co. can be reached at 617-728-0728.
