What can we really say about Stephanie’s on Newbury that hasn’t already been said? The Back Bay spot is a timeless, classic dining destination with reliable (and sophisticated) comfort food. It’s a restaurant where you’ll not only take your hungry, out-of-town parents but where you’ll also brunch with girlfriends on a lazy Sunday.

Restaurants in Boston come and go – but Stephanie’s on Newbury is an institution. And after 20 years in business – surrounded by trendy competition and an ever-changing culinary landscape – this Back Bay spot has remained the restaurant trendsetter with its high quality and consistent food.

But back to those lazy Sundays – I spent one recently at (where else) Stephanie’s on Newbury. My friend and I gabbed and caught up over mimosas, eggs and muffins (obviously).

But we’ll start with the bread – because Sundays and carbs go together like peanut butter and jelly, if you ask me. We ordered up a basket of bread sides which included, warm muffins, fresh scones and sticky sweet buns. Trust me, this little basket of goodness will satisfy your sweet tooth better than most pancakes or french toast – in my opinion.

After stuffing our faces with bread, we proceeded to try the savory side of Stephanie’s brunch menu. We recommend the arepa con chorizo (pictured below), which is essentially corn cake, grilled chorizo sausage – all topped with sunny side up eggs. And trust us, you’ll want to lick up every last bit of that runny egg yolk and chorizo.

We also highly recommend ordering Stephanie’s crab cake benedict (top picture). Sure, you can find eggs benedict just about everywhere. But Stephanie’s on Newbury does it right. And by right, we mean with a jalapeńo hollandaise sauce. So keep on brunching it up at Stephanie’s, Boston. We know you’ll be back for more.
