Anyone who has spent any reasonable amount of time in New York City can attest that the old school diners and delis are true staples amongst the transient (and always trendy) Manhattan restaurant-lined streets. One such eatery is Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen.

The “Long Island-based mini-chain’s Manhattan location” is one of only a “handful of kosher deli’s left in New York,” according to New York’s Grub Street. The website is reporting (per Crain’s) that the “owner Ronald Dragoon is opening a new, 215-seat outpost of Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen in Scarsdale this summer, and plans to follow that one up with outposts in Boston and Washington, D.C.”

And the site is reporting that the chain will not lose its Kosher certification ahead of the expansion. This is good news for Boston – as the Jewish deli serves up some of the tastiest “traditional kosher dishes such as hot corned beef, braised brisket, beef tongue and matzo-ball soup,” according to Crain’s.

The Crain’s article also reports that Ben’s has “six eateries in the city (NYC), on Long Island and in Boca Raton, Fla., Ben’s is among a handful of Jewish delis here—and the largest—that maintain kosher standards.”

We don’t know where and when the deli will expand to Boston but we’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
