Few things induce an amorous evening more so than enjoying a quiet sunset over Boston Harbor. Couple that with the city’s signature seafood, maybe some champagne, and you’ve got what Karma Crew Yacht Charters calls “regional romance.”
Karma Crew Yacht Charters hopes to bring that passionate ambiance to Boston in the form of a 1948 antique classic motor yacht, aptly dubbed FULL MOON, that will act as a charter yacht by day and moonlight as a bed & breakfast.
CEO Catherine Applegate hopes to achieve her dream of a multifaceted yachting service through the magic that is crowdfunding. The financial floodgates opened Wednesday on Fundable, and Applegate hopes to raise a solid $50,000 within the next 14 days.
“Together with Captain Michael Murphy – a fully licensed Captain and a ConDUCKtor on Boston Duck Tours for the last six years – I am endeavoring to raise the capital necessary to get the Full Moon into shipshape,” Applegate told BostInno in an email. “We will convert the three Staterooms into beautiful, luxurious bedrooms, so that the charter yacht by day will become a B&B at sea by night.”
And if Captain Murphy’s Duck Tour laden resume isn’t evidence enough of his nautical chops, Applegate wrote on Fundable, he also happens to be fantastic cook.
The antique boat was built along the shores of Chicago in 1949 by innovative designer Henry C. Grebe. Despite undergoing re-fittings back in 2005, the FULL MOON is still in need of a makeover before it makes its makes its maiden voyage on Boston Harbor as a charter ship/B&B hybrid.
Those who pledge, Applegate told us, will be rewarded with various “discount sunset cruises, week-long charters, and even a full wedding package.”
