The Boston Fire Department are responding to a partial building collapse at 45 Stuart Street in Boston’s Chinatown neighborhood. The building is currently under construction. The BFD reported via social media that the 12th floor collapsed down to the fifth.

According to Curbed, 45 Stuart street is being erected asa residential tower some 33 stories tall. The 500,000 square foot, $175 million project is expected to be comprised of  “398 studios, 1-BRs and 2-BRs as well as a five-story, 198-space parking garage.”

Reports WCVB, “Two workers were injured in the construction accident, but the injuries were described as ‘not life-threatening’ by Boston EMS.” One sustained a serious head injury, tweeted the BFD, and the other minor injuries. Both were taken immediately to nearby Tufts Medical Center.

BFD responded to the call at 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning.

“The biggest challenge now is making sure everyone is out of there safe,” Incindent Commander Deputy Chief Robert Calobrisi told media reports on the scene.
