President Obama was in Boston earlier this month for a fundraiser on behalf of the Democratic National Committee and it appears he’ll be swinging back to the Bay Sate this summer. This time, though, he’ll be heading more inland to deliver the commencement address at Worcester Technical High School.

According to CBS Boston, President Obama’s speech will take place at Worcester Tech’s graduation on June 11 at the DCU Center.

“We are honored that President Obama has chosen to address the graduates of Worcester Technical High School,” Principal Sheila Harrity said in a statement. “As a preeminent leader and advocate for Career and Technical Education (CTE), the President’s work and commitment to promoting equality of opportunity for all, will inspire the class of 2014.”

CBS notes that Worcester Tech was one of the poorest performing high schools in the state, the lowest in Worcester. As exemplified by the numerous accolades the school has received in recent years, it’s turnaround has been impressive to say the least. Currently, Worcester Tech’s graduation rate hovers around the 95 percent range with a dropout rate of just 1.3 percent.

It’s not clear at this time what the substance of President Obama’s speech will be but he’s sure to tout Worcester Tech’s remarkable reversal and cite it as an example for which all other schools ought to aspire to.
