As part of a Today Show series, ‘30 Days To A Better You‘, anchor Jenna Wolfe has spent every day in March helping viewers achieve a healthier lifestyle. From recipes to trending fitness classes, this personal trainer has introduced us to different ways to get and stay fit all month long. In a recent segment however, Wolfe spoke about a fitness company that has Boston roots. Let’s just say this invention is a cross between yoga and the game twister. Now have I got your attention?

While discussing how exercise has become more portable, Wolfe introduced Yoga by Numbers. The premise is this: students use a paint-by-numbers inspired yoga mat, complete with grids, targets and numbers, and they will have a clearer idea of how to best align their body all while doing so in the privacy of their own space. No competition, no crowded classes, no intimidation. So with an understanding of how frustrating this type of fitness can by, inventor Elizabeth Morrow, discovered a way to maximize the health benefits while enabling yogis to feel confident with their workouts.

Morrow, who completed her RYT-200 teacher training at South Boston Yoga, states about her product, “People get hung up on that feeling of them not going to be good enough at it to do it publicly.” This numerical ‘map’ is a way for students to nix their fear of yoga and instead practice with specific imagery in front of them. Not only will this create more self-confidence surrounding the practice, but it will enable more people to enjoy yoga without the concern of doing it ‘wrong’.

Having confidence in their product, Morrow and her team took to Kickstarter to help fund the creative idea. And with over 150 backers and far surpassing their goal of $27,000, Yoga by Numbers is now able to grow and flourish for many to enjoy. Forget the expensive classes and finding a studio that works around your busy schedule. Yoga by Numbers is about making an extremely beneficial workout convenient, straightforward and customizable.

So what do you say, are you up for a rousing game of yoga-twister? After all, exercise should be enjoyable — it’s the only way we’ll continue to practice.
