It’s hard to forget the pumpkin craze that enveloped Boston (and America) last fall. From the M&M’s to the flavored coffees, pumpkin was synonymous with fall 2013. But Sons of Liberty’s Seasonal Pumpkin Spice Whiskey truly took the craze to a whole new level.

Our report of the seasonal whiskey’s arrival was followed by even more attention from other news outlets like Fox and the Examiner. Needless to say, the flavored whiskey took off, gaining popularity all over New England.

Now, it looks like the Rhode Island-based craft distillery is gaining international attention for its Pumpkin Spiced Whiskey. Last Thursday, March 20, the Sons of Liberty distillery accepted a “World’s Best” award in the category of “Best Flavored Whiskey” at this year’s annual awards presented by Whisky Magazine.

Founder of Sons of Liberty Mike Reppucci (above), stated in a release “It is a tremendous honor to receive the ultimate recognition for our efforts with this year’s ‘World’s Best’ award, not only for us, but for everyone who helped make this whiskey. From grains to bottle and all the pumpkins in between, so many Rhode Islanders are part of this win.”

And according to an official source, the Sons of Liberty’s Pumpkin Spice Whiskey will be back again this fall in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Guess we’ll have to wait for autumn 2014 a.k.a. pumpkin craze round two.
