The Middlesex District Attorney’s office has confirmed that on Sunday afternoon human remains were found near Somerville High School. The DA’s office and the Massachusetts State Police are currently investigating the scene at the nearby School Street bridge, according to the Boston Globe.

As noted by The Somerville News Weekly, the remains are thought to be related to a similar case in which a  Somerville man who was brutally murdered and subsequently dismembered. Body parts were placed in bags and suitcases, some of which were found behind a Norwood school, though there’s been no confirmed connection between the two.

In that instance, two men were arrested back in January for beating and maiming their 66-year old roommate. The site where the remains were found on Sunday is just a block from where the two men were living, the Globe continued.
