Opening a successful craft brewery is no easy task. Patience, industry knowledge, and enthusiasm all play into whether a craft beer company flourishes in the market. But while many have tried – few have thrived as quickly as Newburyport Brewing Company in Massachusetts.

Just last month, it was announced by press release that the “can and keg” craft brewery produced more than 5000 barrels of craft beer in their first year of business. This makes Newburyport Brewing Company one of the fastest growing breweries in the country.

And we can certainly see why. The brewery doesn’t just brew beer – it’s also an important part of the Newburyport community. Offering up tours, tastings, live music and comedy nights, the brewery has also become a destination in-and-of itself.

Chris Webb, co-founder and CEO expressed his gratitude to the community in a release stating, “We thank our local craft beer-loving consumers and bar owners, restaurants, retail owners, and musicians in Boston and throughout the region for making us one of the handful of breweries since Prohibition to achieve the 5000 barrel mark in our first year of production.”

Since Newburyport shipped its first batch of beer last April, the brewery has opened a tasting room as well as secured over 200 draft accounts and 500 retail accounts in Massachusetts. It’s certainly a New England brewery to watch – but in the meantime, we recommend cracking open one of their tasty flagship brews this spring.
