When it comes to ordering beer, I tend to order the same things over and over. I rarely get too adventurous at Happy Hour unless I’m there for certain beer discovery purposes. But on National Beer Day, there’s really no better time to try something new. Break outside your usual go-to beverage choice and discover a booze you like even better.

It’s possible. Especially now with Beer Viz’s interactive beer site. The incredibly cool website is easy to use, intuitive and helpful.

Here’s how it works: The site first asks you what kind of beer you like – either light, medium or dark. This allows users to choose their preferred beer strength in order to explore similar beers.

Once you’ve selected the kind of beer you like, a beer style chart appears along with a color coded wheel to help narrow down the choices. Users can also choose to search for a beer based on its appearance, aroma, taste and overall characteristics.

As you move the curser over different beers that you already like, the wheel will identify a few others that are similar. For example – I chose medium body beers, then clicked on LeffeBlonde (don’t judge). The chart immediately recommended four different kinds of Pumpkin Ale styles and one Belgian Strong Pale Ale style for my future beer drinking purposes.

Try it out for yourself and let us know what you think about the beer chart in the comments below.
