“A Day in the Life” is a series where we’ll profile a variety of residents to get an intimate glimpse into their day-to-day. These are your neighbors. Get to know them.

When it comes to events and entertaining, a good DJ is the key to keeping a party on its feet. And for the last few years, Boston DJ and event coordinator, Nora Jordan, has been doing exactly that in Boston. The founder of DJour Entertainment, Jordan not only brings a much-needed feminine style to the DJ industry, but also happens to be great at what she does.

For two years, Jordan’s worked as a resident DJ on the Spirit of Boston as well as a DJ for some of Boston’s best fitness events, including Sports Club/LA’s spin One Foundation fundraiser and Lululemon Athletica events. And on top of this, the Boston DJ also entertains at private events and weddings throughout the area.

Here, Jordan gives Bostinno a glimpse into her daily music-filled life.

How do you spend most mornings?

I wake up, write down my dream if I remember it, then work out (either running, yoga, or November Project). Then I make an awesome breakfast and start checking email.

What are the top priorities on your to-do list right now?

Preparing myself and Kelli, our other DJ, for the fast approaching wedding season.

Keeping up-to-date on wedding trends and local events.

Learning new music and practicing my mixing.

What do you love most about your job in Boston?

I love the variety of my work. Sometimes I’m on the Spirit of Boston seeing the best view of our skyline. Sometimes I’m in a gorgeous open field where I just want to Instagram every single second of this beautiful wedding. And sometimes I’m DJing for a yoga or spin class, providing the jams to make people work their hardest and feel their best.

What is the worst part and the best part about your typical day?

The best part of (almost) every day is having the flexibility to create my own schedule. The nature of being a DJour Entertainment DJ, and an event coordinator all while building our brand is that every season is different from the next. Winter is booking season and summer is wedding season – so during the two halves of the year, my schedule looks completely different, and I love that!

The worst part? Sometimes I get lonely working from home so I make sure I get out every day and have some contact with people.

If you could impart one piece of advice to our readers, what would it be?

Fall in love with new music often. To me that’s the best feeling. Understand what kind of music will serve you the best and let it be the wind in your sails. Silence is awesome too, sometimes.

What’s one TV show you can’t live without right now?

Dawson’s Creek (insert embarrassed emoji), and Girls, of course.

What would you do if you were suddenly granted a day off from work tomorrow?

It would be summertime, and I would sit on Nantasket Beach allllll day.

If you weren’t answering my questions, what would you be doing instead?

Finding awesome Spotify playlists or listening to NPR tiny desk concerts, posting on Instagram (@DJourEntertainment), and juicing beets.
