Those who love beer but have yet to visit Hopster’s Brew & Boards, the only Boston-area community microbrewery and restaurant hybrid, are missing out in a big way. Beer fans from all over have visited Hopster’s to make their own brew from scratch – and of course, to snack on the charcuterie, flatbreads, and cheese plates (so many good things at once).

Now, in addition to the cheese plates, it looks like we have yet another reason to trek to Newton for brews. This month, Hopster’s is kicking off their new Tap Takeover series. According to a release, the series will host a local craft beer company for one night, “offering exclusive beers on tap from the brewery” as well as an opportunity for guests to brew a recipe with the brand’s founder or head brewer.

First, Hopster’s will host Backlash Beer Company from Holyoke, MA, and its brewmaster, Helder Pimentel. The local brewery will “take over” Hopster’s kettles and brew 75 gallons of a brand new, one-of-a-kind Backlash Double IPA. Yum.

Right now, only 25 tickets remain to take part in the brewing process. The cost is $99 to brew but spectators are admitted free of charge. Those who brew their own beer will take home a case of the exclusive booze to enjoy at home – after two to three weeks of fermenting, of course.

The Tap Takeover series kicks off Friday, April 18 and, according to an official source, will be an ongoing monthly series at Hopster’s. Go here to learn more about the event, reserve your brewing session and purchase tickets today.
