Tom Brady had a solid Kentucky Derby in 2013, rocking the bow tie and (as can be seen) doing well with his bets. Orb won him $25,000 on a $4,700 bet. So it should come as no surprise that Brady will be going back in 2014. The Derby, set for Saturday, May 3rd, will have its customary array of celebrities present, with the Patriots quarterback among them.

In a party guest list published by the famous Barnstable Brown Gala, Brady is one of several notable names for New Englanders. Also on there are current Boston sports notables like Vince Wilfork (whose recently resolved contract crisis was met with universal approval from Patriots fans), and Celtics forward Kris Humphries.

One name that will inevitably draw interest, given Brady’s presence at the same party, is that of former Patriots receiver (and current rival) Wes Welker. Now catching passes from Peyton Manning in a Denver Broncos uniform, Welker and Brady are probably still close, though it might offend a few Patriots fans to see them partying together. Most fans will hopefully realize that despite the business of the NFL, rival players are allowed to enjoy prestigious Gala’s together, where they both wear funny hats. And Welker was present for the victory last year, so why mess with a good thing?

Brady will have a chance to hang out with other non-New England sports stars too, since Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be in attendance with fellow Green Bay star, Randall Cobb. And though he might normally consider attending with Gisele, Brady’s Derby experience has become a “traditional guys weekend for Tom and a few of his friends,” according to Brown.

Interestingly, Brady might be able to bet on a local Massachusetts horse, should he choose. “Wicked Strong” will run in the race, hailing from Beverley, Mass.
