Making Mother Nature proud and staying on-trend? Easy. This season, some of the biggest names in fashion are incorporating eco-friendly fabrics into their designs. But before you shop, check out this breakdown of today’s most popular sustainable threads.

Organic Cotton
We all know organic produce has health benefits – and, as it turns out, the same is true for clothing. Conventional cotton is often grown with toxic chemicals like pesticides, whereas organic cotton comes from non-genetically-modified plants. Translation? It’s better for your body and the earth.

Bamboo
Bamboo is considered a “super fabric” because its fibers are naturally antibacterial. That’s right – wearing a bamboo-blend top could ward off disease. Not to mention, once spun, it’s incredibly soft.

Flax Linen
This textile is made from the fibers of the flax plant Linum usitatissimum, which doesn’t require harmful fertilizers. Even better? Linen tops and pants don’t need ironing (they look best when a little wrinkled), conserving both time and energy.

Lyocell
This material – trademarked as Tencel® – is made of processed tree pulp, so it’s both biodegradable and recyclable. When buying Lyocell, however, be sure to check the tags: sustainable wood is what you want.
