The 118th Boston Marathon was always going to be more than simply who won and lost. Given the events of 2013, and the yearlong recovery that ensued (and will surely continue), much of the normal focus on the actual race results rescinded slightly. That said, a competition as dramatic and competitive as the Boston Marathon will always warrant interest in who eventually triumphs. So here are the 2014 Boston Marathon results, which we’ll update as they come in.

Update: More on Meb Keflezighi, the first American man to win the Boston Marathon since 1983.

Everything you need to know about the 2014 Boston Marathon:

For top official results of each classification, check the Boston Athletic Association website here.

The race began in Hopkinton as it customarily does, winding through the hills on the outskirts of Boston and eventually into the city proper. A massive crowd (possibly the largest to ever watch the race) gathered to cheer on racers and casual runners, all fighting to complete the 26.2 mile run.

Racing officially began at 8:50 a.m., with mobility impaired runners kicking off the 118th marathon. Following them, the wheelchair and handcycles flew out of the gates. The elite women began their own race at a torrid pace at 9:30 a.m., with their elite male counterparts heading out of Hopkinton 30 minutes later at 10 a.m.

The winners for the men and women’s races will each take home $150,000 in prize money from John Hancock (the long time sponsor of the event since prize money was first handed out in 1986). The wheelchair winners (men’s and women’s) will each take $15,000. In total, the prize money for all of the top finishers in the 2014 marathon will be $806,000.

If you’re a marathon runner, and have just finished the race, looking for results, remember to take some time and eat quality post-marathon foods. But if you’re simply trying to enjoy the race, here are the best bars along the route.
