Here in Boston, we’re certainly not lacking in the pizza department. We might not be New York City or Chicago but we’re still home to some of the world’s best pizzerias. How do we know? Because not only do we love them but visitors seem to go crazy for pizza in Boston as well.

Massachusetts is home to two authentic (and certified) Neapolitan pizzerias as well as many other mouthwatering pizza shops serving up the real deal. From wood-fired ovens to charcoal ovens, there’s quite the variety of pizza to be found in our city. And Hopper.com, a travel planning startup, thinks so too.

Today the website posted a blog on the Huffington Post listing America’s top seven cities for pizza – with Boston coming in at number seven. We may have barely made the list but we made the list for good reason. The article tells readers to “tempt your tastebuds in the pizza-loving city of Boston, Massachusetts.”

And includes a photo of a pizza pie from Santarpio’s that looks to-die-for delicious. The article also (rightly) points to Regina’s and Santarpio’s as being the two most popular pizzerias in the Hub. With one being a North End institution and the other, a “tucked away” spot that “has slowly gained an international reputation.”

While we can’t argue with that – there are other Boston pizza shops that also make our city one of the best places for the dish. The recently opened Pastoral restaurant in Fort Point serves up some of the best and most legit artisan pizza pies around. And who could forget about Ernesto’s, Picco, or Area Four (just to name a few)?

Other cities that made the pizza heaven list included Philadelphia (#6), Providence (#5), Chicago (#4), New Haven (#3), Trenton (#2), and of course NYC (#1).
