For years, millions of women have turned to Cosmopolitan for fashion tips and love advice. And now, after hiring feminist writer Jill Filipovic, the famed magazine can add a few tougher topics – like women’s rights – to the list.

If you’re an avid Cosmo reader like me, you’ve likely heard of Jill, as she’s been freelancing for the site. If you’re not, you’ve probably seen her pieces shared on your newsfeed – something Cosmopolitan.com Editor Amy Odell hopes we’ll see continue. “I think it’s really important talking to an audience of millennial women to find a way to get them to connect to these issues that are sadly so prevalent in our country today and around the world,” she says.

Well, thanks to the magazine’s rather unorthodox addition of Jill, it looks like Cosmo may have just found a way to do so – and I, for one, couldn’t be happier. Because while the Bachelor of the Week might not have any substance, at least the article on the page next to him will.
