Here in Boston, we’re pretty familiar with the whole “breakfast for dinner” concept. In fact, we even featured some of our favorite 24-hour breakfast spots in their own post. From waffles to eggs – the most important meal of the day shouldn’t be limited to the A.M.

Fortunately for us, one local favorite has now achieved national recognition for its divine diner offerings. Thrillist named South Street Diner one of the best 24-hour diners in the country. And for good reason.

Thrillist states that if you’re going to South Street Diner, you have to “Grab a giant stack of pancakes — banana-walnut is worth a try. But with that pint, it’s hard to beat buffalo finger.”

Can’t argue with that. The diner, located near Boston’s Waterfront, opened in 1947 and has been feeding hungry patrons ever since. If you go we also recommend ordering their “Diner Special” meal featuring three eggs, two pancakes, home fries, toast, and bacon (among other options). And for dessert, their frappes and floats are sure to make the trip worth your while.

Other notable diners that made Thillist’s lists included The Diner DC (Washington, D.C.), Waverly Restaurant (NYC), Clover Grill (New Orleans), and Maxwell Street Depot (Chicago).
