After much anticipation, the word is in. Japanese retailer Uniqlo will open its first local store in Faneuil Hall this July. The affordable retailer, which has existing U.S. locations in New York and San Francisco, also made a huge announcement for Boston-area Uniqlo lovers: They’re planning not one, but six area locations, per the Boston Globe.

The forthcoming Faneuil Hall store, which shoppers can expect by July of this summer, will only be a pop-up – giving Uniqlo unknowns a taste of the retailer’s clothing and casual style, as well as their low price points. The store will pop up in the South Market Building of Faneuil.

While shoppers and Uniqlo lovers are held over by the Faneuil Hall location, the retailer will be busy working on several other nearby stores. Expect to find a Uniqlo in the Natick Collection, the Mall at Chestnut Hill, the Northshore Mall and Legacy Place later this year, following the July pop up.

In addition to the stores surrounding Boston Proper, Uniqlo will open a flagship (read: really big) location in the Back Bay at 341 Newbury Street, expected to open in spring of 2015. In addition to the massive Back Bay store, a permanent Faneuil Hall Uniqlo will follow.

Got all that? Uniqlo seems to be coming out swinging to battle local retailers like H&M and Forever 21 in Boston. Prepare yourselves, shoppers. Affordable denim, casual tees and simple style are all on their way to the city – in full force.
