It’s graduation season, folks! Whether it’s you who’s finally finished with school or someone you know, one thing is for sure – there will be cake. And plenty of it. In addition to flowers, presents and dinners, no graduation is complete without a customized cake, complete with your school colors and mascot. I distinctly remember my very purple (school color) college graduation cake, which ended up turning everyone’s teeth blue … but I digress.

The point is – if you haven’t already ordered a customized cake or decided where to pick one up, you best start planning. Below are seven go-to bakeries in the Boston area, for all of your graduation sweet tooth needs.

Café Vanille

If you’re looking to fancy up your graduation cake, we recommend ordering from Cafe Vanille. Located in Beacon Hill and Chestnut Hill, the Parisian bakery offers a wide assortment of cakes – all of which you can customize for your graduate.

Cakes for Occasions

If you’re looking to have a cake delivered right to your doorstep before graduation, we recommend ordering from Cakes for Occasions. The company is located in Danvers, MA and can customize, decorate and bake whatever kind of cake you’re looking for.

Georgetown Cupcakes

Forget cake. If your graduate prefers cupcakes, there’s no better place to order them than Georgetown Cupcake in Back Bay. The shop offers customized cupcakes for no additional charge. All you have to do is talk with the catering manager to give them specific decorating instructions.

Oakleaf Cakes

If you’re looking for a graduation cake that’s a bit more elaborate and unique, we recommend ordering from Oakleaf Cakes. The Boston bakery customizes cakes of all shapes and sizes – (best of all) can drop it off at your home.

Shaws

In need of a customized cake – whether you want a certain photo or design planted on the front – we recommend Shaws. Fortunately, you can do most of the ordering online and/or by giving them a call.

Sweet Tooth Boston

This South Boston bakery offers up special occasion cakes that “taste as good as they look,” according to the store. You can custom design a cake or order one of their ready-made sweet cakes. Just make sure you place your order three days in advance.

Whole Foods

If all else fails – there’s always Whole Foods, my go-to for baked goods. Fortunately, they’re located just about everywhere. With 14 locations in the Boston area and plenty of cakes, this grocery store is perfectly convenient for your graduation nosh needs.
