Whether you’re graduating with a BA, BS, MA or Ph.D, chances are your family and friends will be here for the momentous occasion. And when they arrive in Boston, we’re pretty sure they expect an oh-so-special graduation dinner. After all, there’s no better way to celebrate your accomplishment than with a fancy schmancy meal you’d never pay for yourself. Now’s your chance to snag a reservation at that Boston restaurant, you’ve been dying to try. But just in case you don’t already have your graduation dinner spot picked out, here are a few recommendations.

The Beehive

If your family is looking for live music and a fun atmosphere, head to The Beehive in the South End. The food and music make this place one-of-a-kind but we should warn you, it can get pretty loud in there.

Grill 23 & Bar

If your dad wants steaks, we recommend heading to the classy Grill 23 in Back Bay. The restaurant serves up fabulous food and has an even more fabulous bar area. Recently renovated, the Grill 23 bar is perfect for pre-dinner cocktails and celebratory drinks.

Harvest

Looking to head to Harvard Square? We recommend choosing the always-delicious Harvest restaurant. After the fancy dinner, take your family on a walking tour of the area through Harvard Yard – or head to the nearby Beat Hotel bar for some celebratory cocktails.

Island Creek Oyster Bar

If your relatives have never experienced New England lobster rolls and oysters, then booking a table at Island Creek Oyster Bar is a must. Afterwards, you can always take  your parents around the Fenway Park neighborhood as well.

Legal Harborside

If you’re looking to show off the Boston Harbor views to your family, we recommend booking a table on the second floor of Legal Harborside. Before or after dinner, head upstairs to the third floor for views and cocktail.

Mare

If your friends and family are hoping for a traditional North End dinner (and like seafood), we recommend booking a reservation at Mare. Surrounded by windows, the restaurant’s brightly lit interior is just as uplifting and enjoyable as the food.

Neptune Oyster

If you’ve waited until the last minute to book a table, you’re in luck. You can make same day reservations at Neptune Oyster but you’ll have to stop by to put your name down. In general, this restaurant is better for smaller parties but will be a real treat for out-of-towners. The wait is usually a few hours and they’ll call you when your table is ready.

Scampo

Without a doubt, your parents will appreciate seeing Boston’s Liberty Hotel in Beacon Hill. The hotel’s interesting history and stunning interior is sure to be a winner. We recommend making reservations at Scampo for some first class Italian fare and drinks.
