If nothing else, today is certainly a strong indication that summer is right around the corner. Not only are iced coffees back in full force but busy Bostonians are already starting to plan their summer vacays. From nearby weekend getaways on the cape to far off travel destinations, chances are good that you have a few places on your must-visit list this season.

But whatever you do – don’t travel on ten certain days this summer. At least, not if you can help it. According to the Huffington Post, Orbitz.com has released the busiest times to travel during the upcoming summer months.

According to the Orbitz.com poll, “88 percent of Americans plan on taking a vacation this summer.” My question is – who are the 12 percent who don’t plan on leaving Boston at all this season?

But for those of us who do plan on taking a much-needed vacay, here are the ten days to avoid an airport, a highway and/or a train station.

1. Friday, May 23
2. Saturday, May 24
3. Thursday, May 29
4. Friday, May 30
5. Thursday, June 5
6. Friday, June 6
7. Saturday, May 28
8. Thursday, June 19
9. Thursday, June 12
10. Thursday, July 3 (July Fourth weekend)

Basically, just avoid traveling any weekend in June if you can help it. If you’re planning on getting out of town this upcoming Memorial Day weekend, we recommend heading out on Thursday instead of the Friday before. For those that plan on vacationing July 4th weekend, we recommend booking a ticket ASAP – or just staying in Boston to avoid the madness.

Best of luck with your travel plans this summer!
