Don’t worry, it’s not the kind pictured (above).

There will, however, be a record-breaking 25-foot tall, 4-foot wide. 25,000 pound ice luge at Boston’s Seaport World Trade Center this month. The “record-setting luge will dispense Johnny Appleseed Hard Cider” all the way to the bottom, according to an official source.

Apparently, around 1,800 gallons of water were used to construct the luge, which also took 600 man hours to complete from start to finish. And according to a release, once the giant luge melts, it will be used to help water the trees and flowers along the Johnny Appleseed Trail.

The record-setting ice luge event will take place the evening of Thursday, June 19 beginning at 7 p.m. Guests who RSVP here, will receive “exclusive access to the World’s Largest Ice Luge and an intimate concert with a major music act to be announced in the coming days,” per an official source.

And even if you can’t make the event, you can still watch it from the Johnny Appleseed social media channels. They’ll include video and photos from the event which also includes “a time-lapse video that shrinks the World’s Largest Ice Luge 600-hour build to just 60 seconds.”

If you’re unfamiliar with the Johnny Appleseed Hard Cider, you won’t be for long. The cider, which launched nationally this past April as a standalone brand from Anheuser-Busch, is certainly making a splash (a big one). And in case you were wondering, the beverage is best served over ice – or in this case, an ice luge.
