The temperature’s rising, and our need to spend our days outdoors is only getting stronger. While you’re planning trips to the beach and picnics in the park, we give you the best reason to play hooky this summer in Boston.

The Colonnade Hotel, located at 120 Huntington Avenue in the Back Bay, has premiered their newly redesigned Roof Top Pool this week, located 12 stories above the streets below, and now offering white-curtained cabanas ready to be rented, lounge seats and a full-service bar with outdoor TVs for pool goers.

While on Saturdays and Sundays, the Roof Top Pool is only open for hotel guests, it’s available for locals to visit during the weekdays, Monday through Friday, for a $40 cover charge from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. After 5 p.m., however, the roof top escape is open to the public at no cover charge, serving sangrias and more specialty cocktails alongside summery eats like swordfish tacos and volcano shrimp, and making for a prime after-work destination on warm summer nights.

This season, the hotel is also debuting early morning yoga sessions on their rooftop. Dubbed “Sunrise Salutations,” the yoga classes will take place on Wednesdays beginning June 25, from 7 to 8 a.m. The all-levels Vinyasa class will be led by Boston yogi Rebecca Pacheco, and for non-hotel guests, the classes are $15, or $30 for a class plus an all-day pool pass (that’s a good deal). Space is limited for the Sunrise Salutations, and reservations must be made 24 hours for advance. For hotel guests, the classes are free.

On Twitter? You’ve got a chance to win a free weekday pass from the Colonnade Hotel. All you have to do is tag a fun summer photo with @colonnade and the hashtag #RTPLife in order to be entered into the contest. Winners will be selected every Monday based on the best photos from the week before.

So get ready for a summer of skyline views and private cabanas: The newly redesigned Roof Top Pool at the Colonnade is now open for business.
