The People’s Pint, a brewpub based out of Greenfield, has concocted a new beer that stands to benefit bikers statewide. Aptly dubbed Training Wheels, the limited IPA’s sales will partially go towards MassBike – the Commonwealth’s cycle-friendly advocacy group.

Luckily you won’t have to trek all the way out to Western Mass. to enjoy this fine, philanthropic adult beverage. According to MassBike, it’ll be available to purchase at the Craft Beer Cellar locations in Belmont, Braintree and Winchester; Berman’s Liquors in Lexington; and Pemberton Market in Cambridge.

But if you happen to find yourself out in the Pioneer Valley, I’d highly recommend stopping by The People’s Pint. Having visited this sanctuary once myself back in the ole collegiate days, I can more than vouch for their other varieties of booze.

As for Training Wheels, as noted on The People’s Pub’s website, “At 4.5%, this beer comes in low on alcohol, but big on hop aroma. Large additions of locally grown and west coast hops impart a tropical fruit and pine sap aroma with a touch of malt character.”

Too bad you can’t get drunk off hop aroma.

Still, the fact that a portion of the proceeds are going towards MassBike more than make up for that fact.

And what’s even better is that The People’s Pint has been promoting cycling as a viable transportation option since 2003. Continues MassBike, “Participants earn credit for every mile traveled by bike, which can be redeemed for gift certificates to be used in the brewpub. To date, they have recorded over 63,000 miles traveled by bike instead of by car.”

So head over to one of the aforementioned liquor stores, put down about 10 or so and let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
