As you likely already know, traffic in Boston is a bitch. Throw in an annual American celebration in honor of our country’s independence – or, more bluntly, a reason to shove a variety of grilled meats into our faces and chase them with frothy beers – and we have the makings for a bumper-to-bumper disaster.

Lucky for you, I know how to avoid most of it. So plan accordingly.

According to Boston Transportation Department, there will be a slew of road closures and parking restrictions. And while you’re always encouraged to ride the MBTA, because, let’s face it, that’ll prove to the most efficient mode of transportation despite the sure annoyances of an overly-inebriated patriot.

Here’s your complete list of Boston road closures and parking restrictions:

July 3 at 12Noon Until Completion of the Fireworks on July 4

  • Berkeley Street, from Beacon Street to Back Street
  • Clarendon Street, from Back Street to Beacon Street
  • Back Street, from Dartmouth Street to Mugar Way (Resident access will remain from Dartmouth Street)

July 4 at 4PM Until Completion of the Fireworks

  • Beacon Street, from Arlington Street to Massachusetts Avenue
  • Berkeley Street, from Commonwealth Avenue to Back Street
  • Dartmouth Street, from Commonwealth Avenue to Back Street
