In just a few days, the Esplanade will come alive with the patriotic sounds of the Boston Pops and the most spectacular fireworks show around. If you’re lucky to enough to secure a front row seat in front of the Hatch Shell (otherwise known as the Oval), then you’re all set. But for the rest of us, we’ll need a fireworks viewing plan. Below, we’ve rounded up the 10 best spots to watch this year’s spectacular fireworks show.

Arnold Arboretum

If you plan to stay in Jamaica Plain, may we suggest heading to Arnold Arboretum? If you make your way up Peter’s Hill, you should be able to get a view of the fireworks show – and perhaps others as well.

Bunker Hill

You can bet there will be quite a few folks camping out on Bunker Hill in Charlestown this July 4th. So, you might as well join them. Bring a blanket and take in the fireworks show from not-so far away.

Castle Island

Castle Island is a prime viewing spot on July 4th. In addition to having a view of the Boston Harbor and Boston’s own fireworks show, spectators can also see other fireworks shows in nearby towns.

Charles River

Head to the Charles River to take in the sights and sounds of this year’s Fourth of July show. And if you’re unable to secure a seat in the Oval, this is certainly the next best option. However, many areas along the Charles River will have security checkpoints – so make sure to plan ahead.

Charter a Boat

If you’re in the mood for a Fourth of July cruise around the Boston Harbor, then we recommend booking one of the many boating options. Whether it’s on an Odyssey Cruise or private yacht, there are plenty of options in Boston.

Larz Anderson Park

If you’re out in Brookline, catch a glimpse of the fireworks at Larz Anderson Park this July 4th. It’s also a great alternative to Boston’s busy city streets.

Museum of Science

The Museum of Science’s ideal location, which overlooks the Charles River, makes this venue a great spot to watch the fireworks. Members of the museum can buy tickets for $28 to watch the show on the Museum’s Garage roof.

Prospect Hill

We recommend Somerville residents head to Prospect Hill this Fourth of July for spectacular views of the fireworks and to avoid the crowds.

Rooftop

Do you or your friend have a rooftop? Problem solved. If you know someone with a rooftop view of the fireworks – perhaps in Beacon Hill or the North End – take advantage of this prime viewing location.

Top of the Hub

If you’re looking to eat dinner and take in the fireworks at the same time, there’s no better place than Top of the Hub. The restaurant will be hosting a special five-course Fourth of July dinner and open bar. We recommend reserving your space, here.
