BuzzFeed listicles are a tired source at this point – especially when they’re coming directly at Boston stereotypes – but when they’re bringing world-renowned bakeries to light with details of pastries, breads and ice cream sandwiches, we’ll pay attention. Learning that a hometown bakery made the list at number two? Even better.

Tatte Bakery, with four locations in Brookline and Cambridge, was named to the list of BuzzFeed’s 25 Bakeries Around the World You Have to See Before You Die, and we won’t argue with that. Tatte has become a popular Boston destinations for treats like pistachio croissants and chocolate brioche, as well as a hot spot for brunches, lunches and dinners. While their original location in Brookline’s main focus is pastries, cakes and cookies, with some sandwiches, salads and soups served from the small kitchen, the Cambridge locations boast more complete breakfast and lunch options, with croque monsieurs and bacon and leek sandwiches on the menu. As for the newest Cambridge location at Main Street, guests can sign up for cooking and baking classes as well as stop in for dinner.

About the local bakery, BuzzFeed’s Candace Lowry writes:

Why you have to see it: Tatte’s fruit and nut tarts are second to none, and the pastries are displayed so perfectly you won’t even want to touch them.

But touch them you will – put this bakery on your calendar for brunch this weekend, stat. On the list, Tatte is in company of bakeries from Tokyo to Paris to Prague, as well the infamous Dominique Ansel’s cronut slinging bakery in New York City.
