It’s been an interesting Fourth of July here in Boston. Even though today is July 4, the fireworks have already come and gone in the sky over the Charles River. After rescheduling the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular from the 4th to the 3rd, spectators headed to the Esplanade for the show last night, and the fireworks even shot off about 30 minutes early to avoid a forthcoming storm. Good thing they did, too: Not 15 minutes after the fireworks’ finale did a lightning storm and massive downpour roll in to the area.

Whether you ended up getting soaked heading off the Esplanade last night and want to relive the magic, or if you were safely inside and missed out on the Boston fireworks this year, we gathered pictures from Twitter and Instagram to give you some eye candy this Fourth of July. Here’s hoping the rain stays away throughout most of the day, so you can spend the holiday like an American.
