If there’s anything that will get your average Boston techie out from behind the glow of a monitor, it the haze of Boston’s music scene. Music blogs are a great way to learn about new music, re-discover old music, and immerse yourself in the local scene. I’ve compiled five of the best blogs to get you started, and keep you plugged in to all that great Boston tune-age.

1) Bradley’s Almanac

Also known as the ‘nac,’ this music blog has Boston in the title (subtitle, anyway), and is, more or less, a one stop shop for Boston beats.

2) Cheap Thrills Boston
Cheap Thrills keeps things super local, and, as stated in the title, super cheap. Author Rob V finds and compiles goings on around Boston that will cost you $10 or less. This is an ideal spot to find a cheap show, and the events he finds go way beyond just the music-related.

3) Ryan’s Smashing Life
Ryan’s Smashing Life has a great title as well as great content. With artist profiles, interviews, and loads of musical insight, it seems life is good when it’s smashing.

4) Band In Boston
This one’s pretty unique. Band in Boston has a few different signature shows/pieces they regularly feature on their blog. My favorite is the “Flophouse Sessions,” in which transplanted talent from all over the country stop in to play a semi acoustic sesh in the BiB’s own makeshift studio.

5) Boston Music Spotlight
If you’re looking for a straight-up list of who’s playing where, Boston Music Spotlight is your blog. Running lists of scheduled shows and tour news is delivered in a clean, professional layout. All Boston related – just the way you like it.

I’m sure we missed some, so be sure to tell us about your favorite Beantown music blog in the comments.
