Six individuals were chosen for MITX's 2010 Future Leaders Group

Hey Boston, who will be leading you into the future? Barack Obama, Governor Deval Patrick, and Mayor Thomas Menino are all cool guys, but there are some new leaders in town. This morning, the Massachusetts Innovation & Technology Exchange (MITX),  New England’s premier Internet and marketing association, announced their 2010 Future Leaders Group.

MITX is a big deal; they host the most prestigious events in Boston and have been a respected organization in Boston’s corporate and entrepreneurial scene since 1996.

The Future Leaders Group was selected for their leadership and entrepreneurship in Massachusetts’ innovation economy. They will represent the young voice of Massachusetts and provide insight to MITX on topics like technology trends and pop culture. MITX, in return, will give them full access to MITX events, time with the MITX board of directors, and a bit of education.

We were happy two see two BostInnovation friends and supporters, Cort Johnson and Matt Lauzon, selected to the 2010 Future Leaders Group. Johnson is the co-founder of DartBoston, a community for young entrepreneurs to share ideas and feedback on their projects, and Lauzon is founder and president of Gemvara, a website where users customize luxury jewelry with gemstones and metals.

We touched base with both of these guys today.

“You can’t have a thriving technology community like we have in Massachusetts without an organization like MITX,” wrote Lauzon in an Email to BostInnovation. “I am honored to be selected and eager to contribute as MITX continues to help business and individuals connect, grow, and thrive.”

Johnson echoed Lauzon’s sentiments.

“MITX is a great organization helping in the overall stimulation of the entrepreneurial community, and I’m honored to be recognized by them. This recognition really reflects the whole team that makes Dart happen every week, especially the people that have been there since the beginning, Jake Cacciapaglia and Alexa Scordato,” he wrote.

The other four leaders chosen were: Justin Cannon, CEO of Lingt, Christine Peterson, social media strategist at Mullen, Ali Robbins, a Tuck MBA student, and Rob Toof, CEO of Proctorcam.

The BostInnovation team congratulates all six leaders chosen. We couldn’t be more proud to see young people being acknowledged for their efforts, and we are excited to see more future contributions from them to Massachusetts’  innovation ecosystem. Who knows? There could be a future president, governor, or mayor in this group. (We sure hope so!)
