SeamlessWeb allows you to make orders from Boston restaurants on the go, and this week the company rounded out its mobile site and suite of apps by launching on Android. Now no matter what smartphone you own, you can have hundreds of Boston restaurant menus on-demand for ordering from wherever you are.

SeamlessWeb’s apps compete with others like GrubHub and CityMint, but has presence in far more cities (a whopping 27 in both the US and UK), connecting you to over 5,000 restaurants. In Boston alone there are over 380 restaurants on-board already. The company, based in NYC, reports that Boston has been one of it’s fastest growing markets in the US.

“Bostonians love food and have been very receptive to our service,” Ryan Scott, the company’s Chief Marketing Officer, shared with Bostinno. The company has served over a million customers to date, and hopes to make a bigger splash in Boston come February with a “Free Coffee Day” campaign.

SeamlessWeb’s Boston Presence

“Boston is a big part of our growth plans, so be on the lookout for new restaurants being added and many great local promotions throughout the year,” Scott shared. He went on to tell Bostinno about a series of events dubbed “Free Coffee Days” in February where more than a dozen of its restaurant partners will be handing out free coffee to help spread the word about the app. Keep your eyes peeled at popular hubs like Harvard Sq. and Downtown Crossing for some free cups of Joe.

The company has been getting the word out about its service through a mix of promotions to raise awareness among restaurants as well as through customer demand. “If our customers tell us they want a restaurant to join our network, we strive to make sure it’s added. We also field a lot of inquiries from restaurant owners as our popularity rises in any given city,” Scott shared. “Boston is no different in this regard; we are seeing more and more interest among the restaurant community as our customer base continues to grow.”

This year SeamlessWeb’s top goal in Boston is to introduce the app to more consumers. I would definitely recommend adding it to your mobile arsenal and giving it a try. I was impressed with the selection of restaurants as well as the detail on the menus, explaining the item and allowing you to add special instructions or additions.

I was extra excited that they have on-boarded my favorite lunch spot, and even pulled in detailed info about my go-to sandwich – “Best Chicken Salad in the City.” (It’s also worth mentioning that you can order through SeamlessWeb right from their website.)

Curious about which restaurants Bostonians are ordering from most frequently from their phones? T Anthony’s, Tossed, Jae’s Café, Au Bon Pain, Crazy Dough’s Pizza, Al Capone’s, Nick Varano’s Famous Deli, Hot Tomatoes, Rock Sugar Thai, and Rice Bowl make the top ten.

Restaurant Integration Made Easy

For Boston restaurants, integration with SeamlessWeb is relatively easy and flexible. Once onboard, the company can transmit orders in three possible ways: via the restaurant’s computer terminal, over fax, or through the restaurants point of sale (POS) system.

“Restaurants love our platform because we increase their revenue,” said Scott. “On average, a restaurant that joins SeamlessWeb sees a double digit increase in revenue. Plus, by joining our network, restaurants are able to get marketing support they didn’t have before. We offer ‘Menu Plus’ content to our restaurant partners, allowing them to include enriched content such as an ‘About Us’ section, photographs, daily specials and featured dishes.”

These restaurant relationships and the integration process are also what helps set SeamlessWeb apart from the competition. “Our direct relationship with restaurants creates excellent two-way communication, like providing delivery time estimates to customers during the ordering process,” said Scott. “To our knowledge there are not many apps out there that provide the ability to search for restaurants and complete orders all within one interface,” he added.
