Here is the video, in three parts, of Seth speaking at the private press breakfast this morning at SCVNGR’s headquarters in Cambridge. This is the only video of the launch of LevelUp.

Before you watch the videos, here are a couple things to ponder:

  • This new app has no tie with SCVNGR’s current app. It is completely new and requires new registration. Are they abandoning the checkin and their current SCVNGR app?
  • Seth references $15 million in funding going towards game layer “R&D.” Will SCVNGR turn into an app developing machine and just release early to market apps with game mechanics in them?
  • He mentions his keynote at SXSW and says that it is about the game layer on top of the world and not about SCVNGR. Is this a full on pivot for SCVNGR?
